From Frank...
This week has been a difficult one. My mother’s health declined suddenly, likely as a progression of her Alzheimer’s. She’s stable at this point and I am so appreciative of those members and volunteers that I came across throughout the week who offered support. A caring community is certainly comforting, even if only words can be offered. So, being grateful for support from our community is at the top of my gratitude list this Thanksgiving week.
Another thing that is always useful and appreciated is good information on resources. A few weeks ago, we asked about your experiences with pharmacies that deliver in our area. I’m glad to say we received several recommendations and we’ve added those to our online Resources for Daily Living. I encourage you to look at the resources presented there, including of course, the pharmacies that deliver which is included under the heading of “Health and Wellness.” I also invite you to let us know of any other resources that you might know of that would be useful for others. The online listing is intended to help anyone in the community find services related to aging. It’s yet another way that we create a caring community – by making it easier to find the resources to make living independently. So, please peruse the online resources and send me an email if you have some additions or edits! You might just make someone’s life a bit easier as a result.
Next week we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving by providing meals to Members Plus that would like a homemade meal delivered around noon on Thanksgiving Day. If you’re a Member Plus and would like a meal, please let us know by Monday at noon. If you’re cooking for Thanksgiving and can prepare an extra meal or two or even one specific dish, please send an email. If anyone can deliver a meal or two, let us know that too! Just email info@CWPV.org or call 202-615-5853.
Finally, I still want to know about what you’re grateful for this year! Please let me hear from you. I hope to share a list (anonymously) next week. Keeping the goodness in our lives in focus, helps us navigate the choppy waters.

P.S. The Village office will be closed on Thursday and Friday of next week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Volunteer services may still be provided when the office is closed but we must arrange them in advance.
