From Frank...
It’s been a hectic week with promises of more change to come. Despite having to move a lot for my husband’s career, I’ve always found transitions to be difficult. There’s always so much sadness of what I’m leaving behind and fear of the unknown. What I’ve come to learn is that grounding myself in building community and making human connections has helped to make me feel grounded, even in a new, unfamiliar place.
All changes are hard (for me anyway) but we’ll face the future together and be creative in solving whatever challenges may arise. The hallmark of the Village movement is “neighbors helping neighbors” and that concept remains so incredibly important and vital, perhaps increasingly so, at times of uncertainty or difficulty.
So, this weekend, we’ll come together as a community for our monthly Sunday Supper at All Souls. Then, on Tuesday, there’s another terrific Tuesday Talk by Amanda Ripley on who survives when disaster strikes, which after two recent hurricanes is perhaps very timely. We’ll gather at Lillies Restaurant on Wednesday for our monthly “Lunch Bunch.” On Thursday, we’ll meet to discuss senior living options in the area (again, as part of being prepared in the event that one cannot remain living at home.) Thanks to our incredible volunteers, we will also deliver groceries, take people to appointments, and help with technology this week for those Members Plus that need a helping hand.
I hope you’ll join us for one or more of these events. Being together with neighbors and friends, for me, is incredibly helpful. If you’ve been on the fence about joining the Village, maybe even thinking “I’m not ready yet,” perhaps this is the time to reconsider joining our wonderful, caring community who supports one another and creates a greater sense of community.

P.S. Monday is Veterans Day, when we celebrate all those that serve our country. Many thanks to all who have or are giving of themselves to serve and defend America.
