From Frank...Executive Director, Cleveland & Woodley Park Village
Have you made a resolution to volunteer more in 2024? A desire to be more involved? Or just want to do fun, new things? Join our Programs Team! A small group of Village members, volunteers, and staff get together on the second Monday of every month at 11am, at the Cleveland Park Library, to brainstorm and plan new activities. To date, the group has successfully convened a regular games group, held a paella cooking demonstration, planned a visit to Glen Echo's Art Walk, convened a theatre interest group, and gone to an Oktoberfest event at Zinnia!
At our most recent meeting, we've decided on a monthly movie outing to the Avalon, a bourbon tasting, a pasta cooking demonstration (and lunch!), tea at Hillwood, and educational seminars on hiring home health aides and preventing falls. There's always room for new ideas and those that want to help plan activities of events of interest.
The next meeting will be on Monday, February 5th at 11am. Call (202) 615-5853 to register and join the meeting and we will send a reminder the day before.
Please keep the following upcoming activities in mind, and join us!
Tuesday Talk: The Last Politician by journalist and author, Franklin Foer, on January 16th, book signing at 6:30 followed by that talk at 7 pm
French Conversation Group: Thursday, Jan 18 at 3:30 pm
Cards & Games Group: Wednesday, Jan 24 at 3pm
Docent Tour of the National Gallery of Art: Thursday, Jan 25 at 11am with lunch after
I hope you will join us for one of these events or help us plan additional events! In 2023, we had 153 of 220 members attend a program. That's 70% of our members finding something of interest. It's early in the year so let's try to get 100% of members finding a program of interest in 2024!
